Always fancied learning how to paint in watercolour?
If you’re a bit nervous about how and where to start with watercolours, then this is the class for you! This 6 week course is suitable for absolute beginners.
Join me for my first classes at Jackson’s Art Stroud on Monday evenings.
Over the course of six weeks, through hands-on easy exercises and demonstrations, you’ll gain confidence with this medium.
Each week, we’ll explore different techniques and subjects (still life and landscape.) I will explain about the huge array of art materials which can often confuse people. There will be the chance to add in other materials such as coloured pencil, fineliner or graphite.
By the end of the course, you will have a greater understanding of this beautiful medium and the confidence to continue painting at home.
When you book, I will send you a materials list (don’t worry it’s not long or expensive - this is the beauty of watercolours!) and answer any other questions you may have.
About Me:
I studied Italian and History of Art at University College London with a year at The Slade School of Fine Art where I learnt drawing, oils and water based media. I have recently completed a watercolour course at St. Ives School of Art with teaching support.
I have always been passionate about painting and watercolours in particular. Often the entry point for beginners, it can be quite a tricky medium to master due to its mercurial qualities. But this is the joy of watercolours! With very few colours, paper and a few brushes, you can create something really magical. Happy mistakes happen constantly and it can be very exciting - as you will find out. It is such a portable medium, it’s easy to take outdoors and sketch with. You don’t need alot of room at home and the clear up is very easy.
I’m known for my ‘splodgy watercolours’ as I paint in quite an abstract way. Over the past years I’ve been asked to share my techniques and I can demonstrate this to you on this course.
Above all, this six week course is all about sharing my love for the medium. I want you to come away feeling happy and nourished, with a few tips and tricks under your belt to fuel a lifelong love of painting.
